Production Journey - UNITS 14 & 16
To make sure i stuck to my pre-production material i had in hand to use i simply asked my teacher if i can print it out. This allowed me to follow everything i said in my pre production planning this also made it easier for me to not be carrying around my laptop to see what i need to do that i said i would do in my pre production.
After i received my feedback from my focus group i had to go back and make some changes my focus group had given to me such as recording my car sound again. They had also mentioned that some of my audio recording was bubbly because of the mic being to close to the mouth and needed to be covered with something. However i was able to make these changes by simply going outside and recording car noises in my free time. I was also able to record my audio again in my spare time like lunch and break. Due to me not being able to take school equipment like the sonny mic because other students would need it on the following Monday and there was a possibly i could of been sick and wouldn't be in school so i used my phone to record these sounds. This also allowed me to meet the teachers deadline.
When i made my final edit with all the feedback i wanted to make sure my work was good and meets the public expectations. This is why i took all the audience feedback and made sure i made these changes to my final edit so i decided to cut some audio clips short and extend some. This made my overall final edit better.
Sound formats - UNITS 14 & 16
Sound formats
When audio is recorded there are different types of file formats that are being stored in the computer. This is because all the sound formats are used for different purposes. These types of formats can be used for web distribution to a playlist for music and production. The different examples for this are:
- WAV
- AIFF
- MP3
- WMA
- Flash drive/USB
- Hard drive
- Cloud backup services
- Compression
- DRC
- Downward compression
- Upward compression
- Lossy - is when the quality of the sound is reduced.
- Lossless - This is when the file is being compressed and the data still remains there.
- Bit rates - Is how much data is processed in the second.
- File size - This allows you to see hoe big the file is on the device.
Considerations - UNITS 14 & 16
To put all my files together i will use the school iMacs. Furthermore when i am exporting this i will use AIFF sound format. The reason i will use this format is because apple has ownership of this format. It also comes with the feature lossless. This allows the original audio to be copied.
Looking the sound file sand where i am going to be keeping them will be my cloud account on the iMac. Wen-based is the cloud drive remote server. This allows me to open the file from anywhere with internet. This is because the account will have desktop folders which allows me to access the files.
Lastly i will make use of compression. This process allows me to make sure the other sounds are more quitter this also makes sure that the other sounds can be heard in my edits. This will allow different sounds to be heard in my radio show.
Funding - UNITS 14 & 16
Funding can be done in many different ways the reason it can be done in many different ways is because it can come from different sources. For instance:
- Grants
- Advertising
- Sponsorship
Feedback Analysis - UNITS 14 & 16
I have conducted a focus group which has helped me find a guide on what to do, change, edit and adjust for my final edit.
- They said good script
- The audio needs to be leveled out
Setup reflection - UNITS 14 & 16
In oder for me to film my radio show i had to use different equipment. Which we see in the pictures below:

Rational - UNITS 14 & 16
The initial idea that i have choose in 1. Th reason i picked idea number 2 is because this idea allows me to meet the brief. However i also decided to pick this idea because i feel like i will be able to finish recoding and putting my idea together in time. Lastly another reason i decided to go with this idea is because i will be able to get actors for this radio show and voice my idea which will allow me to meet the deadline in time.
Launch date - UNITS 14 & 16
My launch date for my radio programme will be in the summer time this is because kids will most likely be using their phone and preparing them self's for school and would want to know how things might be this experience will be overwhelming for them. Having phones will also allow them to communicate with their parents when they are in school. These kids can also find people on social media that will go to the same school as them this will allow them to find people that go the same school and have some sort of friends when they go to school.
Due to both adults and children typically being on vacation, launching the program during the summer can be highly successful. Moreover, the adults will be more experienced about social media and able to supervise how their adult children use it. The kids will be more equipped to comprehend social media and be aware of both the advantages and disadvantages of using social media and this will allow them to have a better understanding of the pros and cons of social media.
Scheduling and alignment to programme genre - UNITS 14 & 16
When looking at when i want to schedule my radio show. Here are some things that i will consider for instance when is the most appropriate time for adults and children to actually listen to my radio. I have considered the summer time because summer time is approaching meaning parents will stress and look into their kids going to secondary and think about how social media will play apart in their life in school. This time period will allow me to have more audience for my radio show.
Lastly, my radio program will be based on two girls helping a girl out for getting bullied because she posts on social media. This allows me to get different target audience because kids will relate to bullying and posting on social media.
Regulatory Bodies: Ofcom - UNIT 14
Ofcom:
Regulator for the communications services
The regulatory body we depend on on a daily basis is called Ofcom. In oder to monitor TV and radio, we make sure costumers receive the most out of their mobile, home phone, and broadband services. The broadcasting code is divided into ten sections that are interconnected and provide programmers with more guidance on the code.
Section 1:Protecting the under eighteens
- Ofcom looks out for the public's safeguarding, and in this part, it focuses on protecting children under the age of 18. This enables kids to develop in a orderly manor while still respecting and keeping their innocence. It is important that I review these guidelines and standards while I make the final edit of the radio podcast. My writing must be PG-rated.
- Section 2:Harm and offence
- Keeping the standards of the radio project requires avoiding anything that can potentially offend or injure the listener, such as offensive material. It's really important to choose your words wisely while discussing social media-related subjects in order to avoid offending someone.
- Section 3:Crime, disorder, hatred and abuse
- Making sure that no server crime is being used in the radio, disorder, hostility, and abuse is discussed in this section. It draws attention to no criminal activity or disturbance should be taking place by the content, either directly or indirectly. For my radio project, I have to make sure that my content doesn't promote any actions that the listeners might take in the wrong way and feel offended.
- Section 4:Religion
- This section is important , in the views of practically everyone, religion is a big factor, and nobody wants to see or hear anything that is offensive to their religion or culture. For the safety and enjoyment of the public, Ofcom has laws and regulations that prevent these problems from occurring. I will make sure not to bring up topics related to gender, racism, or religion. Therefore won't have to worry about this particular section.
- Section 10: Commercial communications on radio
- This section is only applies for radio broadcasts. I makes sure that businesses communicate correctly to protect clients needs and wants. This is crucial because Ofcom cares about the safety of every consumer. Since I know that people will want to watch and listen for enjoyment to information, I need to know this so that my radio program can be coinvent for everyone so that no one feels offended and feels
- differently than i would want them to.
